Oi!
Another crazy crazy week here at the MTC!! District is great. Branch is great. Gospel is always great (duh). Portuguese is great (yet hard). Have no complaints!!
The days are definitely going by faster (thank goodness haha). Lots of studying and learning, but I seem to never get enough of it. This week we started TRC, which is basically when people volunteer to come as themselves (meaning no fake investigator) and just have a short nice lesson. Usually they are college students who just got back from their mission. What can a newbie missionary teach an RM who speaks the language fluently? Great question because I don't know the answer to that either, haha. We focused on teaching them prayer and faith because everyone has trials in their life, but through faith in Christ and prayer, you can get through a lot. I know I had a great experience teaching them, even if they served in Portugal.
Everyday I am learning more and more, but it is also good to have fun sometimes! I love the Elders in my district. For example, since there are only two Elders in one room and they have 3 bunkbeds, they made one giant bed with all of them. Things like that make the 10 hours of class ok during the day. We figured we are in the classroom more than we are in bed...by like 3 hours.
I do not feel overwhelmed yet, but I know soon enough it will come. I know that if I try my hardest and trust in the Lord and not in my own strength, He will help me and I will see miracles (Alma 26:12). I know that and I love it! I know my Redeemer lives and loves me. Through the Atonement of Christ we can overcome anything!
Love,
Hayden
Fun fact: Two elders in my district are going to the Brazil Manaus Mission. It is literally in the Amazon rain forest and covers half of Brazil. They had to sign documents saying that they cannot teach indigenous tribes in the rain forest. When you have to sign something like that for your mission...ya know it going to be crazy!!
