Oi!
Week one is complete! Wow I cannot believe it has already been a week!! So much has happened, I do not know even where to begin!
First day was like a deer in headlights. But it was comforting to see 320 missionaries feeling the same way. At least I am from the United States. There were 23 countries represented that day....people from Nepal, Syria, South Africa (he is actually my zone leader-super cool elder), etc. It was just fun to see how many people put the Lord first in their lives. Amazing.
Wednesday seemed like literally the longest day ever! Even though I entered around lunch time, there was so much happening and so much to do! I had so many meetings and new things to get used to before we actually "got to work."
On the first day we were already immersed in Portuguese language. Luckily, I took Spanish so I kind of knew what was going on. If I did not take any other language I would have been so so dead. But I do have to say, it is not easy. At all. Slowly and surely I am getting the hang of it!
The first few days were interesting to say the least. My district has 14 people, 6 Sisters and 8 Elders. Sadly, 4 of them are leaving and going to the Sao Paulo MTC (yes I am a little jealous). I do have to say I really like the Sisters and Elders I am with! I could not be happier!
Nothing crazy has happened yet (just wait for Brazil)...just tons and tons of studying and working! Getting up at 6:30 is not the easiest for me for those who know me. And going to bed at 10:30 is not like me either. So the sleeping adjustment is also very hard. But more specifically, the work load is crazy! Even though it is not like school....it kind of is! 3-4 hours of study in the morning, then another 4 hours of language/teaching study in the afternoon. Then teaching at night. You would think that they would cut the newbies a break and let us try learning the language a little bit before we actually started teaching in it, but nope! They threw us right in with the wolves. We got here Wednesday and by Friday we had a 45 min lesson to an investigator in Portuguese!! Wow. That was tough, but it all worked out in the end!
Sorry for this being short but I will write more next week!! I know the Christ is our Savior and Redeemer!! I love you so much!!
Love,
Hayden
